Letter from Wallop Brabazon, magistrate of County Louth, to William Gregory, Under Secretary, Dublin Castle, requesting that the commissioners for the issue of money out of consolidated fund, be permitted to grant funds for the completion of the new road leading from Collon to the sea, County Louth, between Tullyescar [Tullyeskar] hill and Ballymakenny. Explains the 'very peculiar' circumstances of the road, of which a small section passes through the jurisdiction of the town and county of Drogheda, and remains unfinished due to lack of funds at disposal of Drogheda grand jury [June 1823]. Encloses copy extract of letter from John Foster, 1st baron Oriel, to Brabazon, endorsing Brabazon's application for the road's completion, originally dated 15 June 1823. Also letter from John Galloway, board room, Sackville [O'Connell] Street, Dublin, secretary to the consolidated fund commissioners, to Gregory, reporting as requested, the commissioners' opinion on the application, 8 July 1823. |
