Letter from Stephen Rumbold Lushington, Treasury Chambers, London, joint secretary to the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury, to Henry Goulburn, Chief Secretary, Dublin Castle, 12 January 1822, enclosing letter from John Poole, carpenter, 7 Bolton Court, Dublin, to Henry Addington, 1st viscount Sidmouth, Secretary of State for the home department, 21 November 1821, in turn, enclosing Poole's petition to King George IV, requesting a pension in lieu of injuries sustained during his service in the Coolgraney [Coolgreany] yeomanry corps, County Wexford, during 1798 rebellion. Petition signed and supported by James George Stopford, 3rd earl of Courtown, 29 October 1821. Lushington requests that the petition be forwarded to the Lord Lieutenant, for his decision. |

File of papers relating to instruction from Treasury, London, for deductions in salaries of Irish government employees entitled to superannuation. Includes letter from Stephen Rumbold Lushington, Treasury Chambers, London, joint secretary to the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury, to Henry Goulburn, Chief Secretary, Dublin Castle, 15 January 1822, enclosing copy of a printed minute from the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury, dated 8 January 1822, containing rules and regulations concerning the reductions and revisions to take place in various government departments, and concerning deductions in salaries for those entitled to superannuation. The minute also requests from each government department, a return stating the names and details of all persons receiving a retired allowance in each department. Also letter from George Harrison, Treasury, assistant secretary to the Lords Commissioners, to Goulburn, reminding him of the urgency of receiving the returns required, 16 March 1822. Also printed copy of parliamentary bill, to amend an act passed in the 50th year of the reign of late King George III, 'for directing that Accounts of Increase and Diminution of Public Salaries, Pensions and Allowances, shall be annually laid before Parliament, and for regulating and controlling the granting and paying of such Salaries, Pensions and Allowances', 25 March 1822. |
