Petition of Mary Anne Barnes, Kilfinane, Kilmallock, County Limerick, to Earl Talbot, Lord Lieutenant, Dublin Castle, requesting a measure of recompense for services provided to crown by father. Claims to be eldest child of Francis Johnson, Cork, who held positions of Justice of the Peace, Billet Master General, High Constable, Collector and Conservator, and Colonel, during the 1798 Rebellion ‘of a most spirited and Loyal yeomanry Corps named the Blackpool Rangers’. Includes 2 letters from Barnes to Grant enquiring about memorial presented by Abraham Hutchinson on her behalf for relief and asserting that she is ‘in a state of almost starvation’; also includes letter from Taylor, Horse Guards, indicating that the Commander in Chief has conveyed ‘there is no Fund from which he can afford you Relief’ but that application should be made to the Government of Ireland.
