Petition of Committee of Artists of Ireland, to Earl Talbot, Lord Lieutenant, Dublin Castle, requesting intervention to prevent sale of Exhibition Room on Hawkins Street, Dublin, by Dublin Society and to express hope of gaining benefit from the proposed charter. Claims that Dublin Society are in process of concluding a sale of the premises to ‘Mr Harris of the Theatre Royal’ and that loss of the Exhibition Room ‘would be vitally detrimental to the interests of the said Artists of Ireland’, signed by seven representatives of the Arts. Includes letter from William H Gregory, Under Secretary of Ireland, Dublin Castle, to John George Mulvany, conveying Lord Lieutenant’s view that entitlement in law of the Dublin Society to transfer their property ‘to be decided by the proper tribunal’. |
